Can a Boy and Girl be Friends?

Complicating sincere efforts of a teenager to make the right decisions in relations with the opposite sex is the result of constant exposure of youngsters to movies, magazine articles, books, and other media suggesting that sexual relations between unmarried couples are not only acceptable but a common practice.
When you’re romantically involved with someone, it might be considered a taboo to maintain a friendship with a member of the opposite sex. It may be frowned upon to share yourself, emotionally, with the said friend — to have conversations that are genuine and deep and filled with substance. Inculcation of trend of being committed in a relationship is actually devastating to one’s future

Nowadays being in a relationship with the opposite gender is considered a merriment by the young generation, instead it is agonising. This trend needs ameliorations at their finest forms. Girls are suffering more in this gloomy trend as their dignity and respect is at stake. Boys after break up reciprocate in harsher way resulting in disgrace and demeaning of the girl’s reputation. Girls do not realise the fine line between being respectful and being a laughing stock for the society.

Walking hand-in-hand, or with an arm around the waist, and kissing that is not too passionate, usually are acceptable ways for young teenagers to display affection. And there are activities such as hiking or bicycle riding that afford a boy and girl a chance to be together and apart from the rest of the world which can be nowadays called “dating”.

Young males and females need to be made aware of each other's growing sex drives, full consequences of normal sexual attraction, dangers of unprotected sexual activity, and the influence of mass media on their perceptions concerning romantic infatuation, intimacy, sex, and adult love. It is crucial that both boys and girls openly communicate their true feelings and opinions in order to lessen the possibility of misunderstanding.

For example, even when feelings are openly communicated, situations may arise which range from uncomfortable (someone's feelings get hurt) to dangerous (stalking or one night stand). It is an important consideration - perhaps the most crucial one - to unveil the scrumptious glam of this societal downfall and put forward the devastating reality of this problem.

Friendship between the sexes may no longer be a political issue, but it is an issue of liberation: The freedom to love whom you want, in the way that you want. Maybe it’s time that we all took it out of the closet.
