Khattak seeks 13.5 percent of electricity for KP

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak has asked the federal government to share the data of total power generation with the provincial government and give the province 13.5 percent power of its share so that it could curb load-shedding.
He stated this while presiding over a meeting, which discussed unscheduled load-shedding and related issues in the province at Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Peshawar on Monday.
Provincial ministers Inayat Ullah Khan, Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, Muhammad Atif Khan and Shah Farman Khan, MPA Mian Khaliq-ur-Rehman, Peshawar District Nazim Muhammad Asim, PESCO chief Anwar-ul-Haq Yousafzai and Energy Secretary Naeem Khan attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed unscheduled load-shedding and other PESCO-related issues in detail. PESCO authorities informed the officials at the meeting about the steps being taken to improve the power transmission lines, curb line losses and minimize the duration of load-shedding.
The meeting decided to launch a campaign under the provincial government and the PESCO in the province from May 1 to discourage illegal electricity connections and convince people to pay their electricity dues.
Khattak told the PESCO authorities to check line losses to overcome load-shedding. Similarly, the chief minister ordered formation of a committee headed by the provincial secretary for energy and representatives from the PESCO and the local government to give recommendations to curb line losses.
The meeting decided that out of order transformers would be repaired at the PESCO approved workshops only. It was decided that expenses incurred on the repair of these transformers would be paid through the tehsil municipal administrations. On this occasion, all administrative secretaries were directed to keep a close liaison with the PESCO authorities to speed up the implementation of the delayed electrification schemes.
The chief minister assured the PESCO authorities of full cooperation of the provincial government with regard to action against the people involved in power theft and recovery of dues.
