PPP holds rally against govt’s anti-labour policies

LAHORE – Activists of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Sunday took to the streets to protest against the anti-labour policies of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) government.
Protesters carried banners and posters of the party, with pictures of communist leaders Marx and Lenin along with the Bhuttos, to show solidarity with the workforce of the country.
The rally, led by PPP leaders Qamar Zaman Kaira, Chaudhry Manzoor, Abdul Qadar Shaheen, Aslam Gill, Sohail Malik, Aziz Chann, Faisal Mir and others, started from Lahore Railway Station and ended at the Lahore Press Club.
Talking to reporters, the PPP leaders said that the Panama Papers had exposed the nobility of the Sharif family. They also asked the government not to privatise national institutions.
While addressing the gathering, Kaira demanded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to constitute a commission to probe into the Panama revelations as per demand of the PPP.
Charged workers on this occasion chanted slogans of "Go Nawaz Go" and "Dracula government for worker classes is unacceptable". Later the participants dispersed in peaceful manner.
