LHC issues notice to Sharif family over ‘illegal’ wealth hiding

LHC issues notices to PM, family over foreign assets

LAHORE – The Lahore High Court (LHC) issued notice to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, among six family members in case regarding illegal stashed abroad.

Justice Khalid Mehmood Khan heard the case at the Lahore High Court (LHC). During the hearing, petitioner’s counsel Barrister Iqbal Jaffery maintained that the prime minister’s family accumulated illegal assets worth billions of Pakistani Rupees in foreign countries at expense of national treasure.

He referenced Panama Papers in the case highlighting the recent leak of a law firm’s documents. The petitioner requested the court to order return of Sharif family’s assets to Pakistan. The court admitted the plea and issued notices to the prime minister among six family members.

The LHC has summoned replies from the notified persons on April 18.
