Mustafa Kamal gives first blow to Imran

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Syed Hafeezuddin joined Mustafa Kamal’s Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) on Friday.
This is the first time that a sitting lawmaker of a political party other than the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has joined the PSP.
Kamal announced this at a press conference at Bagh-e-Jinnah, the place where his party is planning to hold a public meeting on April 24. Speaking on the occasion, Hafeezuddin said, “Turkey’s current president was once the mayor of Istanbul and he turned it into an economic centre - not just for the Muslim world, but for the entire Europe.”
Talking about his resignation from the PTI, Hafeezuddin said the PTI was established in Karachi after a lot of struggle, but the party didn’t do anything for Karachi despite repeated reminders. In the local council elections, he said, the PTI did not field candidates in the constituencies where its candidates won more than 50,000 votes each in the last general election. He said the opposition in the Sindh Assembly was toothless.
Reacting to Hafeezuddin’s resignation from the party, PTI leader Ali Zaidi said that party chairman Imran Khan had already approved his dismissal after an investigation into the allegations of corruption and favouritism against him.
